Pendle in Lancashire retain prestigious Green Flag Awards

Park Friends and Pendle Council staff are delighted to hold onto their Green Flag Awards for another year

Park Friends and Pendle Council staff are delighted to have held onto their eight Green Flag Awards for another year.

The eight parks which have retained their Green Flag Award status for being beautifully maintained and with excellent facilities are Marsden and Victoria &Walverden Parks in Nelson, Alkincoats and Ball Grove Parks in Colne, Heyhead Park in Brierfield and Valley Gardens in Barnoldswick.

Councillor Nadeem Ahmed who leads on parks said: "It's fantastic that we've been recognised for our top quality parks, meeting the high standards demanded by Keep Britain Tidy's Green Flag Award scheme.

"We entered eight parks for the prestigious Green Flag Awards and all eight sites retained their awards.

"The awards are a great tribute to our hard-working staff, dedicated Park Friends and volunteers who make a big difference.

"Our parks are a huge asset to Pendle as people of all ages can enjoy them for free and I urge people to come and explore them."
