Williamson Park

Located in the eastern part of Lancaster, Williamson Park is one of the countries finest examples of a Victorian/Edwardian Park. It is a protected Conservation Area and also identified as a Grade II listed parkland on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest.

Williamson Park provides the setting for the Ashton Memorial, a 'domed pile' regarded by Pevsner as "the grandest monument in England." In addition to the Memorial which is a Grade I listed building, the park also contains seven other listed buildings and structures that enrich the character of its parkland landscape

More than 500,000 visitors are drawn to the park to enjoy its particular range of activities and attractions, which are managed by Lancaster City Council and in 2013 Williamson Park was accredited as ‘An Excellent Visitor Attraction’ by Visit England.

Activities and attractions include:

- The Ashton Memorial itself, where there are viewing platforms, exhibitions, art galleries and weddings hires throughout the year
- Tropical Butterfly House
- Free-flying bird enclosure and mini beast house
- Taste Lancashire Award winning Pavilion café
- Formal grounds that play host to several events during the summer months, including the nationally recognised outdoor theatres
- Children’s play area
