About this park/green space

River Hamble Country Park, formerly known as Manor Farm Country Park, owned and managed by Hampshire County Council, is a very popular countryside attraction situated in South Hampshire on the outskirts of Southampton and signposted just off Junction 8 M27. Each year it welcomes tens of thousands of visitors exploring its extensive network of paths through woodland, skirting meadows and along the bank of the River Hamble. Whatever the time of year, there is always something to do and the natural landscape is ever changing through the seasons. Sensitively managed as a designated Local Nature Reserve, it is a haven for wildlife and fauna. Ranger led walks and activities for families and specialists alike, bring alive the wealth of natural history to be found within the Park. It also has a long history with evidence of a Roman Road, the wreck of Henry V's flagship the Grace Dieu marked off the Hamble shoreline and more recently, its wartime associations when it was known as HMS Cricket when troops trained with landing craft in preparation for D-Day. Manor Farm was the filming location for the BBC TV series production "Wartime Farm" (a sequel to Victorian Farm and Edwardian Farm). This included historic Manor Farm, a county educational and heritage visitor farm attraction, also situated within the Country Park and managed by Hampshire County Council.
