About this park/green space

Hopetoun Crescent Garden is planted with a diverse range of both native Scottish and foreign tree specimens, some over 120 years old. Along with over 20,000 bulbs, plants and wild flowers the Garden provides all year colour within an acre of greenspace off Leith Walk, close to Edinburgh's City Centre. Hopetoun Crescent Garden has a rich historical heritage and is situated close to the centre of Edinburgh. The Garden was once part of the city's botanical garden before it moved in 1820. The local community brought the area back into use in the 1990s after many years of neglect and the Garden now provides a haven for wildlife and a peaceful refuge from the bustle of city life. The Friends of Hopetoun Crescent Garden were heavily involved in the creation of the management plan and are keen to continue the promotion of the Garden's heritage. They play a leading role in the drive behind the on-going development of the site. In 2009 their efforts were recognised and the garden was awarded with a Green Flag Award.
