Millennium Country Park

The Forest Centre & Millennium Country Park is the flagship site in the Forest of Marston Vale and a fantastic example of environmental regeneration. Old brick pits and arable farmland have been transformed into a diverse mix of woodland, grassland, lakes and wetland habitats for everyone to enjoy.
For walkers or cyclists, there is 8km of traffic free, surfaced cycle paths and footpaths. If you don’t have a bicycle then rent one from our cycle hire. Riders can enjoy a 4km designated horse trail. The playground and sensory wildlife garden will appeal to children of all ages.
Get yourself a ticket to explore the Wetlands Nature Reserve. In this quiet area you can spot birds from the hides, wildflowers in the meadows and much more. Follow the surfaced trail on a wildlife safari to find out facts and play environmental games.
The Forest Centre has a cafe, gift shop and thriving conference facilities to suit everyone. In the Lakeside Café you can relax and enjoy a coffee or glass of wine with delicious local food freshly prepared in our kitchen.

The Forest Centre & Millennium Country Park is owned and operated by the Forest of Marston Vale Trust, the small environmental charity dedicated to using trees and woodlands to transform this part of Bedfordshire to create the Forest of Marston Vale.

Meet at 10.15am at the Forest Centre. Finishes at approx. 12pm. A light, guided stroll with our Forest Volunteers. Paths are all surfaced, but please dress for the weather. If you are a buggy or wheelchair user, please let us know. No need to book – pay the leader £1 on the day.

Wrap up warm to go on this outdoor adventure to the Secret Snow Cabin. Find out about some winter wildlife on the way then enjoy some storytelling in the cosy cabin with a hot drink and biscuit.
Wear waterproof boots and warm coat.
Sessions last approx. 1hr 15 mins and are at 9.45am, 11.30am and 1.45pm and cost £4.50 per child. Booking and parental supervision essential.

Find out about fox folklore and stories then make a marvellous mask to turn yourself into a fox or fantasy creature this February. We’ll be using card and tissue to create 3d masks.

Join our annual tree planting event and become a part of the creation of the Forest of Marston Vale. Shuttle buses will be running all day from the Forest Centre to the planting site. Make sure you dress for the weather, and wear appropriate footwear! Free event – refreshments will be available on site, so make sure you have some cash with you. If you have any accessibility issues, please let us know beforehand so we can sort something out for you.

Get your waterproof boots on and get ready to look out for stonechats, fieldfares, redwings, gadwalls, and other winter birds in this guided walk in the Millennium Country Park. If it’s especially cold, we may even see some more unusual species like a bittern or a smew.
