Saltwell Park

Nestled in the heart of Gateshead, Saltwell Park is one of Britain's finest examples of a Victorian park and a perfect place for the whole family to enjoy.
Its historical and peaceful grounds have earned many awards such as Green Flag Award and Britain's Best Park. Relax and unwind in the beautiful green space; bring the family to enjoy facilities including play areas, a maze and pets' corner; get active with our walking and jogging routes as well as bowling greens, tennis and basketball facilities or simply enjoy lunch and a hot drink in the stunning surroundings of Saltwell Towers. Park run and junior park run take place on a weekly basis. Families can use their mobile phones to bring the talking statues project to life. Working in partnership with the National Garden Scheme we have created a "Buzzing Garden" based on the scheme we have twinned with in Sweden, They have a English garden and we have a Swedish garden. This year has seen the launch of the Love Exploring App where you can follow trails and walk dinosaurs.
