Yeovil Country Park
Yeovil Country Park is a 157 acre urban fringe countryside site that wraps itself around the southern and eastern side of the town of Yeovil. Comprised of 6 main land units, each with a unique and defining characteristic. The country park includes the river Yeo with a population of otters, Wyndham and Summerhouse Hills with superb local views and Penn Hill Park, a more formal setting, and the Victorian Valley gardens of Ninesprings with secluded grottos and a family of kingfishers and water voles. The Country Park was established in 2002 and offers a great resource to the people of Yeovil. There is a suite of information available about the park including site leaflets and themed trails, a permanent orienteering course and fitness trail and many ranger led events. The events programme is varied from ranger led bat walks to large popular themed trail events. The on site rangers provide a front line service to park users and have developed great community links including a three weekly conservation volunteer teams. A welcoming, dog and family friendly, Café is located in the Ninesprings area of the park where there is site information and leaflets. In 2002 the strap line for Yeovil Country Park was opportunities to enjoy and conserve wildlife and countryside, this statement remains both pertinent and true for today.
