Apex Leisure & Wildlife Park
Covering approximately 42 acres, Apex Park offers the visitor a chance to relax away from the bustle of Burnham shopping centre and the beach. A large car park extends from Marine Drive to within 100ft of a lake and parking is free.
There is a gentle walk via tree planting areas to the bank of the River Brue. Cruisers are moored in the river during the summer months and, if the tide is right, you can watch them slip their moorings and head down stream to join the River Parrett and then into the Bristol Channel.
If you feel less energetic, the pleasant walk around the lake is the answer. At a medium pace, this should take approximately 40 minutes. There are picnic tables and seating situated near the entrance and should you require a more peaceful setting, why not picnic on the grass further into the park?
Sedgemoor District Council aims to manage Apex Park for the benefit of the community and to encourage wildlife. It is hoped that visitors to the park will make careful use of the environment and use the litter bins provided.
The park offers; Fishing, canoeing, Timber Animals Sculptures, Dog Agility area , Play Area, Living art sculpture, Outdoor Gym, BMX/Skating area, Radio Controlled Boating, and many events including bulb planting and wildlife walks which are organised by the ‘Friends’ and other organisations throughout the year. A seasonal mobile Cafe offers refreshments.
