OASIS Community Gardens & Orchard
OASIS Community Gardens is a community project started 14 years ago on the site of a derelict youth club and abandoned football field. Managed by the OASIS Community Church & Centre providing the local community with a mixture of projects, activities, park and garden aspects and has become the heart and hub of life in the local community.
The OASIS Community Gardens boasts a Dome greenhouse, Polytunnel, Oasis Pirate Ship Play park, Pre school play village, Wonderland Rockery garden, Wonderland Wildlife Garden, Gazebo, Sensory garden, Herb garden, Wildflower reading area, Trim trail, Rose garden, Topiary area, Fruit orchard area, Vegetable garden, Children's gardens, Nature Cabin and Sports area.
The OASIS Centre & Gardens have many projects running in the Gardens including 'Gardening for Life' & 'Flowers for Life' therapeutic and Horticulture Courses, Liquorice Gardens, Nature Quest Children's Gardening Project, Gardening Volunteering Team, Gardening Enterprise project, Cactus Kingdom, Rainbow Chickens, 'Food for Life’ Project, Aviaries etc.
The OASIS Gardens hosts many Community activities and events including the National Gardens Open Days, OASIS Gala day, Four Season's Festivals, Toddlers Teddy Bear's Picnic, Spring and Summer Funspace events, Holiday Fun days, Holiday Clubs, Children's & Youth Events, Community Barbecues, Sports Special, Winter Wonderland Event. It is a park for community projects run for people of all ages from children to the elderly.
OASIS Gardens is an important green space for the community and the surrounding area and is creating a heart and hub of community life and activity for people of all ages in the area. It has been featured on BBC Gardener's World, has won the top UK Green Social Prescribing Awards, It's Your Neighbourhood awards and Cultivation Street Awards and the People's Projects award.
