Victoria Common

Victoria Common is one of Birmingham’s many Victorian public parks. It is approximately 21 acres in size and is held in Trust by Birmingham City Council.
The park is managed by the Parks and Nature Conservation Service in consultation with the local community, including partner organisations such as Northfield Eco Centre, Northfield Environmental Forum and Northfield Town Centre Management. A key partner group is the Friends of Victoria Common, established in 2010 with support from Northfield Eco Centre, who take an active interest in the park and promote positive use increased community involvement.
The park serves a densely populated area and is also at the heart of the busy Northfield Town Centre and represents a strategically important park within the Northfield Constituency.
Boasting excellent facilities, a substantially refurbished infrastructure and a diverse horticultural landscape, and annual programme of events and activities, Victoria Common aspires to be the green heart of the local community within the town of Northfield. A park which complements the town centre enhances the lives of local residents and fulfils the needs of a modern and diverse local community.
We believe Victoria Common represents a high standard of parks provision in terms of management and development, horticultural excellence, provision of appropriate facilities, community inclusion and participation and environmental sustainability and therefore fulfils the criteria for Green Flag.
