Mount Vernon Park Community Garden

Mount Vernon Park Community Garden, is located within Mount Vernon Park . It was created within an unused area of the park and in recent surveys of the park indicated that people wanted to have areas where people could go and relax and spend time with family and friends. As this area was located between two roads leading into the car park it was important that the area felt safe.

Mount Vernon Community Hall worked with The Centre Playgroup management committee volunteers, who were also keen to add outdoor play and sensory areas to the park they were located within. Our volunteers worked together and sought funding to add a parameter fence with arch gate entry to the community garden. There is a small orchard, seating areas and picnic benches, raised beds with flowers and vegetables. Play equipment: a ship, balance beams, climbing frame, mud kitchen, flower chimes, bird feeders. We wanted to create a place for nature by increasing biodiversity as well as a space for the community to use and enjoy.
