Myton Pool

Friends of Myton Pool (FROMP) was formed by members of the local community to regenerate Myton Pool and the surrounding area for the benefit of the whole of the community. The Land at Myton Pool consists of about two acres of varied habitats including a pool, scrubland, woodland, wildflower meadow, a stream and river frontage. The Pool itself is home to a wide range of species including bats, newts, kingfishers and grass snakes. There are benches to enable people of all ages to enjoy this oasis of tranquillity and watch the resident wildlife. Volunteer working parties are held regularly to maintain access and improve the wildlife habitats. In Spring 2011 a wildflower meadow was created and to improve access to the site by wheelchair users a RADAR gate was installed and a wheelchair friendly path was put in. In 2019 work was completed to improve access to the site by creating a 'path for all' which extended the existing wheelchair friendly path. Feedback from residents and visitors during 2021 indicated that Myton Pool had been invaluable during the Covid-19 lockdowns as a haven of peace, and for exercising locally. The site is open to all 365 days a year with no admission charge. For up to date information please visit our website: www.fromp.org.uk or look at our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/mytonpool
