Colin Gray, England's volunteer of the year 2017 has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Year Honours for voluntary services to the community in Fleet, Hampshire.
Fleet Pond is the largest community facility in Fleet, and thanks to Colin's tireless work it is now a valuable, thriving green space used by the whole community, young and old, and now with the improvements he has driven, accessible to people of all abilities.
Colin has devoted over three decades, working tirelessly to see the once neglected Fleet Pond Nature Reserve restored
Paul Todd, Green Flag Award Manager said: Colin is an example of the many dedicated volunteers working in thousands of parks and green spaces across the country. His achievement is a shining example of what can be achieved through decades of hard work. Congratulations.
