Two Green Flag Award judges took a break from assessing Douglas's parks to take a spin around the Isle of Mann's world famous TT race course.
Both judges arrived incognito, blending in with all the other bikers arriving on the ferry, despite the stormy weather which apparently broke all records for a June storm. Once on the Island they were greated with a very warm welcome from Douglas Borough Council and very enjoyable visits to the parks they assessed.
Mark and Howard managed to ride the 37 mile mountain course before breakfast on the final morning of the trip, much to the admiration of the Douglas BC Officers. Howard said, "Although we didn't break any records (or speed limits!) we had a very realistic experience of the world famous road race as all the signs and protective barriers were in place for the event." The pair even took in a visit to the winners podium at Noble Park.
Howard sums up their visit to Douglas' parks, "from the senior managers to the operatives on the ground everyone seemed to be enjoying their work and the Island population appreciates their efforts as much as the many visitors."
