St James’ Park

St James’ Park has something for everyone thanks to its recent complete restoration and refurbishment. The Parks for People funded works included creating new welcoming entrances, an adventurous children’s play area, climbing wall and basketball area, outdoor gym equipment and two new purpose built tennis courts. There are also new walkways with planting and wildlife areas and bird and bat boxes. St James’ Park is one of the only public spaces in Southampton to have renewable energy in the form of PV cells which you can see mounted on the gazebo in the centre of the park.

You can rest and relax in the Parklife café and sample some of the locally sourced menu or go to one of the many varied events in the community room, also available for private hire. There are lots of opportunities for you to get involved in the life of the park through the Friends of St James’ Park, from volunteering in the Gardening Team to joining the History Research Group or just helping out at one of the many and varied community events throughout the year. Recent events have included craft classes, walks and tours, sports day, bulb planting, Easter trail and tennis coaching.
