Provinciaal Groendomein Rivierenhof

The Rivierenhof is a provincial park that is largely located on the edge of the city of Antwerp in the Antwerp city district of Deurne. It was bought by the province of Antwerp in 1921. In 1923 the Rivierenhof was inaugurated as the first "provincial park" in Flanders.
With its 135 hectares, this provincial park is one of the greatest refreshments in the Antwerp metropolis. The sports clubs, castles, the fairytale house, the petting zoo, the art gallery, the playgrounds, the open-air theater, the boardwalk, the maze, the multipurpose sports field and the beautifully mapped out running course of 10 kilometers make the park attractive for a wide variety of visitors. The extensive botanical collection of the Rivierenhof is known far beyond the national borders. The collection can be admired in the arboretum, the azalea garden and the rose garden. The Rivierenhof is a lively park that offers education about nature and the environment and numerous activities and events for all ages. There is something for everyone at the Rivierenhof. You would almost forget that you can also just come and stroll or have a drink on the terrace. Building on the rich history of the Rivierenhof, the Province of Antwerp is investing heavily to meet the changing needs of park visitors. The Rivierenhof is also an active member of World Urban Parks and is the founding place of the Royal Flemish Dendrological Society (1937).
