Stag Hill Campus

Our 34-hectare Stag Hill campus was built from 1968 on the site of a medieval royal hunting park.

Located within walking distance of the riverside town centre of Guildford, characterised by its historic setts and beautiful architecture, the campus is serviced by excellent public transport options and rentable bikes.

Stag Hill campus accommodates our thriving University community, which includes c15,000 students, c3,000 staff and many visitors. More than 2,700 students live in residential accommodation onsite.

Our green spaces as well as our arts, culture and leisure offerings are fundamental to our community’s wellbeing. Our popular campus lake, water features and wildlife provide a calming and scenic backdrop for a lunchtime picnic or stroll, taking in our rich sculpture collection.

The campus hosts a busy all-year-round events programme and is home to the Ivy Arts Centre, a lakeside stage and a variety of high-quality indoor and outdoor eateries.

As well as 54 bird boxes, Stag Hill holds a Gold Hedgehog Friendly Campus Award.

The campus is home to 1,500 trees of 300 species, with several specimens classified as ‘tree champions'. The collection is nourished by a closed loop recycling system to reduce weed coverage, retain moisture and provide a clean-presented finish.

In the recent THE Impact Rankings, the University placed top 50 globally, and top 10 in the UK highlighting our holistic approach to embedding sustainability. Surrey was the second university to use the Science Based Targeting Methodology to verify its Net Zero Carbon target, which is set for 2030
