Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Playing Field

Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Playing Field has been utilised as a sporting and community space since 1935. The welcoming and spacious 12.75 hectare space brings the local community together through participation in organised sport and informal fitness, relaxing with friends or with the children by the paddling pool. The Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Wood is an attractive and interesting place for appreciating and learning about local wildlife. A quiet stroll through the green and peaceful paths in the woodland provides a welcome break from the urban environment. The variety of wildlife in the woodland is being improved by careful conservation management and the habitat expanded through the planting of the nearby Millennium Wood. Public facilities in Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Playing Field are accessible to all and include: a children's play area; tennis courts; a trim trail; a cafe and a popular paddling pool that is open during the summer months. The quality facilities of the pavilion are available for local football and other sports teams, a mother and toddler group and is used for private parties.
