Rushcliffe Country Park

Built on the site of a former Ministry of Defence bomb-filling factory, the site was reclaimed, redesigned, and opened as Rushcliffe Country Park in 1993. The park is now managed by Rushcliffe Borough Council and has a full-time ranger service. The Park is set in beautiful South Nottinghamshire countryside, with a network of over 8 kilometres of footpaths. Conservation woodlands, grasslands, a 2-hectare lake with reed bed, and wildflower meadows, a children's play area, community garden and community woodland, all make this an excellent venue for a wide variety of activities.
The Friends Group is an enthusiastic, skilled group of local people, who have made a huge contribution to the park as it is today. As well as conservation work such as hedge laying and tree planting, they have created a number of educational trails around the park. In recognition of their commitment and hard work on the park, the Friends were awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Services in 2012 and continue this work to date.
The Visitor Centre, officially opened in 2005, was revamped in 2022 and designed to be 'Energy Neutral', using solar panels and an air source heat pump. The Park is home to several annual events, attracts over 250,000 visitors a year, and encourages as large and diverse a mix of the community as possible.
