Queen’s Park
Queen's Park, 'the jewel in Chesterfield's crown', has been handed back to the town after completion of a massive £4m project to restore the park to its former glory. Visitors are being encouraged to make full use of the town's Grade II* listed premier park, which has been improved and updated, but with tribute being paid to the past as many features have been restored to look like they did when the park was first opened in the 19th Century. Money for the recent restoration came from Chesterfield Borough Council and The Heritage Lottery Fund. The park now boasts: Historic buildings for community use Preserved gateways, lodges and bandstand cafe, and toilet block Miniature Railway 2 state of the art play areas County cricket out ground and pavilion woodland walks and nature areas , conservatory new and refurbished areas of planting, and seasonal floral bedding displays.
