Adullam Garden, Rhyl

At the rear of our offices was a large concrete car park. We are developing this land into a garden for growing food and flowers which will support people facing financial economic challenges, to grow their own fruit and vegetables, giving them access to healthy food at no cost to themselves. We also intend for the garden to provide a safe space for relaxation, communal leisure/ social activities. Our vision was always to expand our garden project to service the wider community and be available more often to become a place of communal well-being and activity.
With the support and practical help from Keep Wales Tidy we now have a dozen raised beds, a greenhouse, composter, tools, trees, vegetable plants , benches and a lovely wildflower garden.
Service users have used the space over the last 12 months to learn gardening skills and we have harvested lots of fruit and vegetables which we have used in the cookery classes that we provide. We have served the food up during our events and during more informal get togethers.
The garden provides a wonderful space to host events in particular we hold our annual summer garden party where we get together with service users, other service providers and stakeholders to eat and network and just enjoy each others company.
It has been the venue for BBQs, challenge / games competitions, finishing point for our walk n talks and just a lovely safe space for 121 sessions and chilling out.
