Worden Park
Worden Park is a Grade II listed country park lying on the southern edge of Leyland in the Borough of South Ribble and is enjoyed by over 300,000 visitors every year. The park is particularly popular with families and has a range of attractions set with the 62 hectare former country estate.
The remaining buildings of Worden Hall, located within the centre of the park, offer a range of visitor facilities including the Folly Café, arts and crafts workshops, events space and walled kitchen garden, surrounded by the Victorian gardens. In addition, a model railway operated by the Leyland Society of Model Engineers offers train rides free of charge to visitors on Sundays through the park's woodlands and meadows along the 1 km long track.
The park also has a large adventure playground, a lawn tennis court and 11 football pitches within its grounds. For those seeking a more relaxing visit, the park offers formal gardens laid out by notable landscape architect W. A. Nesfield where visitors can sit amongst the colourful bedding displays or enjoy walks through mature woodlands and wildflower meadows that link into the open countryside to the south.
The formal gardens also boast a historic hedge maze that gives visitors the chance to test their sense of direction free of charge.
