7th October, 10:00-11:00 - It All Starts with Play! Delivering Play England's 10-year Strategy
Play England’s 10-year strategy sets the objective of restoring a play-based childhood for all children in England by 2035. The session will explain what play is, why children’s freedom to play has declined, and what needs to change across government, local authorities and society. It will introduce the STAR framework of Space, Time, Acceptance and Rights and consider the role of parks and green spaces in making play normal, visible, accepted and welcome.

Eugene Minogue is Executive Director of Play England and led the development and launch of It All Starts with Play. His work spans national policy and local government, focused on children’s play, parks and public spaces, active wellbeing, planning, leisure and community development. He is Secretariat to the APPG on Play and was a Raising the Nation Play Commissioner.
