The Green Flag Award Scheme is delighted to announce that the England 2018 Employee of the Year has been won by Elaine Webster, Parks and Recreation Manager at Cheshire East Council. Elaine was nominated by Sheila Blackburn, Secretary of the Friends of Queens Parks Crewe.
Elaine led the challenging restoration of Queens Park, securing funding and bringing together numerous organisations to achieve this. She helped to set up the friends groups and continues to provide them with support. Elaine shows great commitment to the events held in the Park and generously gives up her own time to support the programme, offering advice and hands-on work, notably at week-ends and after hours.
Elaine Webster said:
“It was a huge surprise to me – it’s a national award so I’m really thrilled. However, I consider it is not just for me but for the whole team and all partners involved. It’s really good news as it spreads the word around about our beautiful Queens Park, in Crewe – I recommend everyone should come to visit – it’s a beautiful place to be!”.
Sheila Blackburn said:
“Queens Park has not only been restored to its former Victorian splendour, but has also become a modern, accessible and free green space that serves its community and the wider area in an incomparable way. It is, without doubt, the very best that Crewe has to offer – and that is thanks to the work and Commitment of its manager, Elaine Webster.”
