MyParkScotland will launch in Edinburgh and Glasgow this Spring Bank holiday weekend.
MyParkScotland will be encouraging people to get out and enjoy their parks - walk, run, play, picnic, meet friends, smell the flowers, watch wildlife, find hidden treasure... or just relax! They are working with Friends groups and partners to organise events and activities in some parks. There won't be something 'organised' happening in every park so they'll also be encouraging people to get out in a park and suggesting ideas for 10 things to do in your park.
Finding where to have a great day out in parks is about to get a lot easier. Launching on Saturday 23 May, MyParkScotland will provide a new way to discover and support the wonderful parks in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
At the click of a mouse or a tap on your phone, you can search all 254 parks by location, postcode or facilities and the events calendar lets you find out what's happening in park near you. And if you're looking for funding for a park project, it's also Scotland's only crowdfunding site specifically for parks and greenspace project.
Try out the new website www.mypark.scot over the launch weekend to discover a new park, take part in a park event or try out a new activity - or maybe do all three! Check out our ideas for 10 things to do in your park www.facebook.com/myparkscot and on twitter @myparkscot
MyPark Scotland is more than just an info resource, it's also Scotland's only crowdfunding site specifically for parks and greenspaces. An added benefit of crowdfunding through MyParkScotland is that as an independent Scottish charity, people are able to Gift Aid their donation. This 'extra funding' will go towards building an endowment fund for Scotland parks - helping to safeguard our national treasures for future generations.
MyParkScotland is one of 11 UK Rethinking Parks projects funded by Nesta and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
