Buchan Country Park

Owned and managed by West Sussex County Council, Buchan Country Park is a haven for quiet recreation and wildlife. It’s an ideal place for walking, wildlife photography or enjoying a picnic, there are 3 designated BBQ platforms in the picnic area.

Visitors have the opportunity to join a range of seasonal events run by the Friends of Buchan Country Park (FoBCP) as well as ad hoc events run by rangers. To keep up with all the news visit our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/buchancountrypark

The countryside centre provides information about the Country Park and the wider countryside. Bags of firewood, a by-product of habitat management in the park can be purchased as well as nest boxes built by our volunteers. Cuppa-Love serve barista coffee, hot and cold drinks, as well as a selection of sweet snacks from the countryside centre, and are open Wednesday to Sunday. Our car park, includes facilities for the disabled and motorcycles, Seasonal opening times can be found on our webpage: www.westsussex.gov.uk/buchan-country-park, a voluntary contribution parking scheme is in place. Our toilets include facilities for the disabled and nappy changing and are available at the same times as the car park.

There is a network of surfaced paths that ensures easy walking in most weather conditions. Much of the park allows good access for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Members of Crawley Angling Society may fish Douster Pond. The club report large carp and pike, although neither species give themselves up easily! Island Pond has a Dog Dip, a designated area where dogs may swim without disturbing other users and wildlife.
