Marine Park Gardens
Established in the 1930’s, this award winning seafront park boasts exceptional floral displays as well as exuberant shrub and herbaceous borders.
There is an 18-hole putting green, still popular with all ages and the original fountain runs during the summer months.
The viewing platform on one of the many shelters is a place to admire the views of the garden from above as well as the shoreline to the south. The gardeners shed boasts one of only two green sedum roofs in the district.
The park has local car parking and has, in part, recently resurfaced pathways throughout as well as plenty of seating and informative notice boards.
There will ultimately be a welcoming café with indoor seating and public toilets incorporated into one of the beautiful original buildings. Subject to planning the new café will open in 2025.
The park has previously been entered into the South and South East In Bloom competitions in the Best Parks Category as well as being entered in the Aldwick In Bloom entry and has consistently been awarded a Silver Gilt.
We pride ourselves on the cleanliness and high maintenance standards at all of our parks. Marine Park Gardens is a special park and the authority has recognised this by continuing to have a head gardener care for and nurture the planting throughout the gardens after beginning a new grounds maintenance contract with Tivoli Group Ltd.
The park is supported by Friends of Aldwick Parks, a result of a merger of several friends groups in the area in 2017, who hold various sessions in the park. The Bognor Community Gardeners have begun to hold regular maintenance sessions in the gardens which has broadened their scope of work in the town. Local children through Forest School occasionally hold sessions in the gardens too. A tea party is planned in 2018 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 'votes for women' campaign led by the suffragette movement.
The gardens has been promoted as a Green Flag Award winning park for the past 9 years.
