Sandwell Valley Crematorium
Sandwell Valley Crematorium opened in 1962 to serve the communities of West Bromwich, Oldbury, Smethwick, Handsworth, Wednesbury, and Tipton.
An integral part of meeting the needs of the bereaved is to provide a well maintained facility, in which families have confidence in the care their loved ones will receive. The grounds are a mixture of formal lawns and informal woodland, including a wide range of memorials to ensure families can personalise their loss in a way which meets their own individual needs.
There have been a range of improvements including the introduction of a dedicated baby’s garden, woodland walk, a Reception Suite for holding wakes, aswell as a modern crematorium building, recycling the old facility into new offices and Cafe.
As a community facility, the close links with a number of groups including Cruse, ministers, funeral directors and memorial masons enable benefits of the facility to be made available to the wider community, including meeting’s and services of remembrance.
