Heaton Park

At 640 acres Heaton Park is one of the largest municipal parks in Europe and is Manchester’ City Councils flagship green space with circa 2.3 million visits per year. The size of the park and the nature of the landscape mean visitors can choose from a variety of high-quality leisure activities or escape into Manchester’s countryside in the city. Heaton Park boasts a wide range of activities, from the animal centre, adventure play, beekeepers, the boating lake, cafés and culture, to the garden centre, golf, picnics, large music, family events, trams and theatre, there is something to suit everyone.

Councillor Lee-Ann Igbon, Executive member for Vibrant Neighbourhoods “The ongoing drive to improve Manchester’s Green Spaces is well under-way, the restoration work at Heaton Park is a great scheme that will ensure the legacy lives on and can be enjoyed by all ages. Maintaining the Green Flag award and Green Heritage site award for Heaton Park is a great achievement for everyone who has been involved in both the restoration process of the hall and the extensive planning that has gone into ensuring the park is as accessible to all. This is thanks to all our devoted volunteers and staff, who work tirelessly all year round to keep the Park an exceptional greenspace.
