Haden Hill Park

Haden Hill House with Haden Hall, the Park and Corngreaves Reserve combine to provide a pleasant and interesting experience for visitors. The formal area of the park was laid out in the late 1870's. In 1992 the park was brought by public subscription. Following extensive restoration the estate contains many fine landscapes and architectural features including two lakes, avenues, ornamental gardens, a multi-games area, gym equipment, bowls, Haden Hill House with its museum collection and Corngraves Nature Conservation area. Haden Hill Estate is not included on the English Heritage register of Historic Parks and Gardens. It is, nevertheless, a landscape of considerable historic interest, developing from an ancient manor site into a fine 19th Century gentlemen's park, finally metamorphosing into a public park in the 20th Century. Remnants of many different phases of design and development are present, including: medieval ridge and furrow; a 16th Century manor house; semi-natural ancient woodland; a 19th Century parkland and mansion; a 20th Century formal garden. The future of the park into the 21st Century is also being addressed by the work of the Haden Hill Friends. Through Heritage Lottery and other funding sources we hope to continue to develop the park to meet the needs of all sections of the community. Our commitment to this was recognised through a Heritage Lottery Grant in 1999, with the restoration work being completed in 2006. We continue to invest further each year and support the original restoration of the park.
