Gostrey Meadow

Gostrey Meadow is a 4-acre park in the Town Centre of Farnham. The site provides a diverse range of greenspace ranging from formal areas near the War Memorial to natural landscapes near the banks of the River Wey.
The park links Farnham Maltings and the River Wey to the town centre with entrances at South Street, Union Road and Longbridge. The large grassed area has a children’s playground, access to paddling in the river Wey, War Memorial and a bandstand which hosts with numerous musical events throughout the summer, making a perfect spot to relax and spend a lazy day or hour.

Gostrey Meadow is a focal space for community gatherings with over 20 events taking place each year, from Music in Meadow, Charity Duck Race, Sustainability Festival, Allotment Show, Remembrance Service at the War Memorial and Christmas Light Switch on.

Large areas of the Riverbank have been sown with wildflower seed which adds colour and attracts wildlife. Spring bulbs cover the grassy banks and formal planters show off the Town's planting scheme in the Summer months. Many volunteer groups use Gostrey Meadow such as Farnham in Bloom Community Group, Friends of Gostrey Meadow, Bloomin’ Litter group, Farnham Rivers Management Committee, Space2Grow, Farnham Lions, Farnham Hedgehogs and Farnham Biodiversity Group.

Gostrey Meadow is managed and owned by Farnham Town Council who took over the park in autumn 2019 from Waverley Borough Council who previously owned it from 1974.
