Westfield Park

Westfield Park is a large community greenspace in one largest suburbs in Aberdeen, Bridge of Don.
It was originally a mix of farmland - belonging to both Westfield and Upper Westfield farms - and a sand quarry before the area was developed into a housing estate. In 1981, coinciding with the increase in housing, the-then Aberdeen District Council purchased the land and gradually, the park was formed.
The park is now managed for nature and biodiversity, with wildflowers, long grass and woodland creating fantastic habitats for pollinators and other animals. At any time of year, people can see many species of animals and plants, including roe deer, rabbits, pipistrelle bats, as well as a variety of different birds, wildflowers, insects, and invertebrates.
There are several tarred paths running through the park – great for everything from dog walks to short family bike rides. Walking a full circle of the park takes approximately 30 minutes. There are also two fun trails which have been set up for youngsters – a rubbing plaques nature trail and the very popular fairy door trail.
The main paths through the park form part of the Aberdeen Core Paths Network, linking with Brig o’ Balgownie and many local residential areas and green spaces through Bridge of Don and beyond.
There is also the Alex Collie Sports Centre in the park along with outdoor football pitches, a children’s park area, a skatepark, a sensory garden, and large woodland areas.
The park is renowned for giving everyone who visits a chance to connect with nature or take part in exercise, helping to enrich the health and quality of suburban life.
