Cove Woodland

The Cove Woodland Trust was registered on 4th July 2017. The Trust was set up to buy a specific piece of land approximately 16 acres that borders the south side of the village of Cove Bay and to maintain that land for the benefits of the residents of the area.

The land purchased by the Trust was predominantly farmland that had been lying fallow for some considerable time. The area is also crossed by a public core path (Cove Woodland Walk) that has been in use for some 30 years and includes areas of trees and bushes both planted and natural.

The site is home to a range of wildlife, including deer, all of which are fast losing their habitats due to building expansion, and our intention is to ensure that this environment is maintained for all other species. We live in a time when the environment is in danger, but we need a healthy environment to survive, so we must protect it to help prevent health problems, maintain the ecosystem and preserve for future generations.

Over the past 5 years, the Trust has achieved a great deal – we’ve planted over 3000 trees on the site in this time and delivered a wide and varied range of initiatives to support the local community.
