Radipole Park & Gardens
Designed in the 1920s by world renowned landscape architect Edward White, Radipole Park & Gardens still retains many of its classic features in addition to the updated features from the development project completed in 2024.
While located off the beaten track, the Park is within walking distance of the town centre or the beach for those who enjoy a good stroll, sitting opposite Radipole Lake nature reserve and alongside Radipole Park Drive.
There are formal gardens to the South, with a series of benches in the central oval to sit and rest or take in the beautiful plantings.
In the middle sits a series of sports facilities and courts, including two new updated tennis courts, basketball, football and short hoops. A track for youngsters to ride their bikes or scooters on and learn road safety, pétanque court and outdoor table tennis. All free to use, just bring your equipment along.
Also within this area is the newly created sensory garden, an upgraded playground with new natural play equipment and a kiosk that serves home made cakes and delicious drinks.
There’s a large open field to the North. At some times of the year it’s left as a wildflower meadow with paths crossing through, wonderful to meander the grasses and wildflowers, spotting wildlife.
That leads into the Friends and community orchard at the far end, filled with trees of all manner of fruit and nuts.
